This Quote Means...

I am reading The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I just read from pages 125-140. In these pages, Anne writes about what goes on in the Secret Annexe. It mostly is about how everything is getting worse and the fighting continues. Also, she writes about her dreams and how she is seeing her friend and her Grandma in them. Lastly, she writes bout how she starts to like Peter.
on page 87, it says, '"When you first came here we arranged that this room should be for both of us; if we were to divide it fairly, you would have the morning and I all afternoon! But I don't even ask that much, and I think that my tow afternoons are really perfectly reasonable."' This show that Anne is using a convincing tone. She tries to persuade. Dussel into letting her use the table in the room. Therefore, she tries to use a polite and convincing tone. I also think that she tries to show her logic to prove to Dussel that she is right.

A Friend from a Book

Currently, I am reading the book, The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank. In this book, Anne describes what it is like to be in hiding, what happens there, and what she thinks about the people living with her.
All the characters in this book have different personalities. However, I feel that I would most likely become friends with Anne Frank. I wold become friends with her because she is wants to be her own person and does not want to copy someone else. For example, she wants to be her own person because she doesn't like it when she is compared to her sister, Margot. On page 66, it says, "I show up terribly against them and am always hearing 'You don't find Margot or Peter doing that-why don't you follow their example? I simply loathe it...I want to be a strong character!" This shows that Anne doesn't want to be like Margot. She wants to be herself. I think that is why I would be her friend than anyone else in the book. I love that she actually has a unique personality and how she doesn't want to be like anyone else.

How Are You Feeling Today?

I am reading the book Al Capone Does My Shirts. This is a book about a boy, Mathew (also known as Moose), and his family move to Alcatraz so his sister can go to Esther P. Marinoff, a school. I read from pages 81-97. In these pages, Moose's mom decides to teach piano classes and since his sister, Natalie is not welcome in Esther P. Marinoff. So since Moose's mom cannot take care of Natalie, Moose has to. Moose is also helping Piper, the warden's daughter, to get laundry washed by a prisoner, Al Capone.
In this book, Moose's mom expects a lot from him. Although  he is the younger child, he is expected to do a lot for his sister because she is mentally retarded. Now since Moose's mom cannot take care of her, she tells Moose to. On page 85, it says, " 'Gram doesn't live down the street anymore, honey.' My mom sighs. 'We can't do this without you. Being around kids is good for Natalie. Mrs. Kelly says so. And if she's to get accepted in the Esther P. Marinoff...' " I think this shows that Moose's mom trusts him. She is telling him that he should take care of Natalie, so she thinks that he can do this task. She thinks that Moose can take care of Natalie, even though she is mentally challenged. I also think that the quote shows that the mom believes that Moose is responsible. She is leaving Natalie in the care of Moose so she has to believe that he can take care of her and will not get her in any sort of trouble.

Witch and Wizard Video

My video:

Themes in The Witch and the Wizard

There are many themes in The Witch and the Wizard. One of the important ones would be determination. I think this is an important  theme in the book because if the characters were not determined to get out of the Overworld prison, then they wouldn't have been able to save all the kids from being vaporized. Ever since, they were kidnapped from their home, they wanted to get out and where very determined. This determination got them to sneak out into Shadowland, live in the Garfumkels, and eventually save the other kids in the prison.

Another theme in this book would be courage. I think this wold be a theme in this book because it took Whit and Wisty a lot of courage to free all the kids, and almost get killed many times just for the kids. they needed to be very brave to stand up to The One Who Is The One. They could have stayed in prison and just watch everyone get killed, but instead they rebelled, and try to escape to find their parents and free the other kids. These were some of the main themes in the book.
